This bike was donated to the Gawler MCC back in the mid to late 50's the bike was kept in a shed on the farm in the photo one day a traveling insurance saleman came around and spotted the bike and he wanted to buy it my friends Dad informed the guy the bike was not for sale as it belonged to the Gawler MCC anyway the salesman kept coming back trying to get the bike and in the end my friends father let the guy have the bike on a agreement the bike remained the sole property of the Gawler MCC and was to be retuned on request from the club, The agreement was drawn up and signed by a JP and three trustee's from the club in 1960. So the bike was taken after a few years the bike was on display and the carby was stolen off of it so the club tried to get the bike back but there was a dispute over owner ship as some porky pies were told and my friends father was unsuccessful and thought he had lost the bike for ever. Unfortualltly my friends father died late last year and never got to see the bike again. My friends Mum was going through some papers after the loss of her husband and found the original agreement so we went after the bike to see if it was still around and it was and after the whole story was out the person who had the bike gave it back so the bike was returned after 51 years The Gawler MCC would like to thank the people involved for returning the bike there is still good people in the world this story is testimony to that.
