Purchased a 2010 Yamaha XVS650 Custom in May with 0.7km on the clock. Have always been a huge fan of traditional bobbers and thought the V-star would be a great basis. Can’t go wrong with a new bike... easy to ride, modern technology and a built proof Yamaha engine.
The only rule I have for this bike is... NO CHROME! Other than that we will just see where it ends up. Lots of flat black, gloss black and a touch of Red and White to give the bike some personality. Looking at a hotrod inspired graphic to go on the sides of the gas tank along with pin striping on both the rear fender and tank. Want something that is still easy to ride, comfortable and not over the top, but still want to scare the occasional small child! haha
I purchased most of my parts from Jimmy and Nik at DESTINO CUSTOM GARAGE (www.destino.com.au), these guys offer bolt on kits for the XVS650 (and others). Very impressed with the quality of the parts and how easy they are to fit, they even come with detailed instructions! No cutting, no welding! Too easy.
The bike is currently in the shop and should get under way in the next week or two.
First pic is the standard XVS650 the second is my new bike parked out the front of Yamaha City the day I purchased it! Last pic is the bike that inspired me to make my own bobber!
Can wait to get the bad boy on road!
