Being a ‘recycled teenager’ I can still remember the excitement of owning my first car and taking girls to the Drive In with me. I’ve always had a love for muscle cars and real bikes from America and Britain. The first car I owned was the usual ’56 FJ, but eventually bought a Ford and have driven them ever since.

The deep roar of a huge motor hanging out of a car bonnet has always been an adrenalin rush for me. That’s why I love announcing the many events around Australia. I also like the people who say hello and have a chat. They are the real heroes and it’s great to see the satisfaction and smiles as they enjoy a great event. It helps to keep me young. Being a ‘recycled teenager’ I also realise I am too young to be this old (sixty-five), but too old to be this young. Retirement is at least another 20 years away.

My entire life revolves around the motor industry, 365 days a year. Between the events, meeting sponsors, racers and the general public my week is pretty full, but I also make time to head to power packed shows on the weekends.

Over the years I’ve spent unmentionable dollars on some of the cars I bought ‘cheap’. If the previous wives ever knew they would not hesitate to castrate me. Deep down I am a Ford fan but I’ve owned numerous makes, because for me it’s more about appreciating cars and not badges. I like my muscle cars but also can admire a four cylinder with a stand out body-kit and paint, although I wouldn’t buy one.

My family and friends all know I’m a revhead and luckily they have all been infected with the same disease. When I present my own car shows there is nobody in the crowd as proud as I am of seeing my children, grand children, and great grand children all helping me with the show.

Keeping an event alive when nothing is happening is a skill I learnt after forty years in the entertainment industry working as a compare and comedian. I spend hours updating my website www.pinky.com.au daily, plus time working on my new website www.motornetwork.com.au. Just like the Pinky website, Motor Network is a comprehensive listing of all car shows, bike shows and swap meets.

My preferred make is Ford, and currently I have a 1994 XF LTD Ford ute that I am working on to eventually become a show car, but really I love all cars and bikes.
