Helmet Talk
I have always worn Shark helmets ... I love them ... maybe it's the shape of my head!!??? Now the RSR range is phased out and the new Race R series is replacing it (see promo photo from Shark). GREAT helmet but so far the graphics are dull (more will come). I'm interested in people's views about which helmets are the best for them, and also some comments on whether people really use their internal visors. I have a great HJC helmet with an internal visor but as i always wear polarised sunglasses during the day I don't need it, and at night I obviously don't need it anyway!!! But then, I need prescription glasses. Do people use their internal visors??? Also, Shark now have a "Vision-R" range which includes a wider visor space and an internal visor (again, see the promo photo from Shark I have uploaded). Has anyone tried it out? I often find the internal visor bumps the bridge or end of my nose ... anyone have opinions?
Next point ... dark visors. They are actually illegal I think (?) but in the harsh bright summer days here they by no means impede vision (only on those bright days though). They are freely sold when you ask for a tinted visor ... has anyone actually been questioned by the police for having one on???
My all time favourite helmet is my RSR Duhammel replica which has a brilliant gloss finish of a golden glittered dragon ... you can even feel the glitter under the clear-coat!! Before this helmet I had a great Red RSR (sitting on the back of my Ducati in the last photo.
Also, I plead guilty to using an open face helmet on my cruiser (never on a sports bike). Yes, cruisers crash too ... but you can get run over by a car tomorrow ... part of the joy of riding is the wind in your face! {I just have to make sure my face stays attached!}
