What I've done

• Firstly, I will only quickly say that racing cams and Termignoni pipes were an immediate must. But I can't claim the credit for installing them! HOWEVER, I worked very closely with Myles at Ducati Gold Coast to customise the fairing, as well as change the AWFUL stock tires! We delicately (and invisibly) shaved extra spaces out of the inner lip of the fairing to allow replacement clip-ons for the GT to be fitted and still obtain full steering lock. The stock clip-ons are virtually lower than your feet!!! In addition, we made unique, welded brackets to bring the clutch and brake fluid reservoirs inwards to fit within the cockpit at full lock. You can see in the photos that only millimetres are to spare but it's perfect! Tires ... researched hard and have gone with dual compound Michelin Power Pures ... stick like GLUE! And finally (which will lead on to work in progress) I added special decals to the front fairing and rear seat cowl and have had them clear coated by the legend of paint (I can't name him but he's done all the finest work for Ducati and Harley Davidson, custom and otherwise, for decades ... now retired, but did this especially for me!). The bike is now perfect for long rides in the countryside, but I can also still obtain a perfect hunched racing position for optimal control on the track. This is a true classic and will become a collectors item.

I even take toothbrushes to the engine case each week to make sure it is clean, and only use the very very best products (for those interested, we use Silkolene oil for Ducatis here on the Gold Coast ... but there are many wonderful synthetic oils). Secondly, I continue to personalise my bike, aesthetically, without taking away from it's true character and heritage. For instance, did anyone know that, before making other things, Ducati made RADIOS! Yes ... I have one special decal, discretely placed, with the Ducati Radio emblem. I really hope I can get some pictures up here because there are many people who ask me about this project and I really believe some of the things I've done and continue to do make this bike even MORE pleasurable and thrilling to ride!

More about project

This bike is a beautiful, modernised take on the classic Super Sport 750 and 900 of the 70's. It is no longer in production and was only made between 2006-2009 (with the Paul Smart edition, in Silver-Grey and Green frame only available in 2006). It is rare example where form and function are brought beautifully together and I bought this over many more practical, and higher specified bikes, because it is a work of art. This project is about making this bike even more beautiful without changing ANY of it's true character or heritage, and also about making it more ridable as it is actually an extremely race focussed design and riding posture that leaves many with aching wrists, neck pain ... not to mention missing out on the awesome journeys that I can now go on with my fellow Ducatistas!
