Mark was lucky enough to be invited to Scott Base Antarctica by our New Zealand distributor Mike Tall from 4WD Upgrades. Mike was asked to modify some of the vehicles based in Antarctica with suspension modifications to enable larger wheels &tyres to be fitted.

I, of course, had to go over to NZ to farewell the guys & to share some retail therapy with my buddy Lorna (Mike's wife & business partner). Lorna & I of course stayed on dry land, but hey that doesn't mean we couldn't have put on the overalls & done some of our own mod's, but being the good little wives we are, we stayed back in Christchurch & shopped instead. (In reality we held the fort at 4WD Upgrades, but we let the guys think we were spending up big on our own toys & things).

We ventured out to the Antarctic Centre the day before the guys were due to leave. This gave them the opportunity to pickup their survival clothing & be de-briefed on the trip. I found it quite amusing watching the guys play dressup!
Lorna & I went to the Antarctic Centre with the guys to have breakfast & said our goodbyes. I stayed for a couple of days to give Lorna a hand then returned home to take care of business here, even though our daughter Danielle was doing a great job in my absence. Ahh, the sacrifices we make!

They arrived at Scott Base 5 hours later & were shown their bunk room & around the base. Mark was quite impressed with their mechanical workshop, but that's Mark - always loves a place to play. Scott Base also housed a couple of Haglands fitted with Commodore V6 engines. One of the Haglands had developed some wiring issues & therefore had sat for nearly 2 years in the shed at the base.
