Jonathan Rea will test with Repsol Honda at Brno following the weekend’s race, with the British World Superbike rider expected to fill in for the injured Casey Stoner should the Aussie be unable to ride at upcoming MotoGP rounds.

Stoner returned to Australia for surgery after injuring his right ankle in a practise crash at the Indianapolis round and will miss the Brno MotoGP round. Depending on the surgery and recovery time, Stoner is also expected to miss the upcoming MotoGP rounds at Misano and Aragon.

Rea currently sits in fifth place in the World Superbike Championship, and has recorded two wins in the series so far this season. A press release from Honda Racing Corporation stated the 25-year-old Brit will be offered the ride with Repsol Honda until Stoner’s return.
