Kawasaki have announced the Australian release of the 2013-spec Kawasaki KX450F. The new-spec KX450F boasts a number of upgrades, but at the same price as the 2012 model.
The all-new feature on the 2013 version of Kawasaki’s premium motocross machine is the Pneumatic Spring Fork (PSF). A world first on a production MX bike, this replaces traditional springs with pressurized air. While it works just as well as conventional shocks, PSF offers the benefit of reduced weight – 750grams – a small but significant reduction on a competition machine. The PSF also provides increased bottoming resistance, with greater and easier adjustability, ie. you’re no longer limited to ‘standard’ spring settings.
The 2013 KX450F is identified by its slim cross-section frame and ultra-flat seat. Factory racer styling extends to the black alumite rims and sleek bodywork.
Piston, cam and ECU upgrades deliver more power throughout the rev range. Electronic Launch Control and three different plug-and-play DFI couplers that come with the bike out of the box will continue to give racers that much needed edge.
The KX450F continues to be the most adjustable and versatile 450 motocrosser on the market, with the 4-way adjustable Renthal handlebars and 2-way adjustable foot-pegs introduced in 2012 carried over for the 2013 model.
The KX450F already boasts back to back AMA Supercross championships (2011 & 2012) at the hands of Ryan Villopoto and the 2013 model is set to continue that winning pedigree.
The 2013 KX450F is available now at Kawasaki dealerships across Australia at the same 2012 RRP of $11,999.
