Motorcycling Australia (MA) announced today that the junior classes in this year’s Australian Supercross Championship will be upgraded to championship status for the first time.

Previously a support category for the main SX1 and SX2 classes, the move is designed to foster greater junior development in supercross, ensure more rider entries and assist those entries in gaining sponsorship support.
Two classes, SX Junior Lites and SX Junior 85, will race at all rounds of this year’s ASX series, excluding the AUS-X Open in Sydney, and will compete on the same tracks, with minor alterations to suit the rider’s machinery and skill levels.
The 2017 Australian Supercross Championship kicks off in Jimboomba, QLD, on 23 September, then goes to Bacchus Marsh, VIC (14 October), Virginia, SA (28 October) and Sydney, NSW (11-12 November), before returning to Jimboomba (18 November).
