Motorcycling Australia (MA) announced today that the 2017 Yamaha Australian Four Day Enduro (A4DE) will feature a format change.
The prologue, which was first added in 2012 to determine the starting order, will be dropped for this year’s Four Day, with starting positions to now be set by the rider’s performance in either the previous A4DE or recent Australian Off Road Championship (AORC) rounds.
As such, riders looking to enter this year’s A4DE for the first time will need to compete in at least one of the remaining AORC rounds in order to be seeded for the event. As of this issue’s on-sale date, the remaining AORC rounds were Renmark SA (Rds 7 & 8, 24-25 June), Kyogle NSW (Rds 9 & 10, 22-23 July) and Omeo VIC (Rds 11 & 12, 5–6 August).
The change will, according to MA, allow riders and teams to keep costs down, while also encouraging international entrants and reducing the potential for rider injury, mechanical damage and track deterioration. Scrutineering and sign-on will be unchanged ahead of competition.
The 2017 Yamaha Australian Four Day Enduro will be held in Toowoomba on 26-30 September. Queensland last hosted a Four Day in 2011.
