Gas Gas motorcycles are set for a new presence in Australia, with Urban Moto Imports (UMI) taking over local distribution for the Spanish enduro brand.
UMI, who already have Royal Enfield, Benelli, Confederate Motorcycles, MV Agusta and Bimota in their stable, say they hold the Gas Gas brand in high regard, and are confident the recently-announced MY18 ‘Phoenix’ range will be very competitive.
Gas Gas itself was recently taken over by the Spanish-owned Torrot Group, who will keep production in Spain, are promising significant investment across all levels of manufacturing and product development, and plan to expand into new markets.
The new Phoenix range of enduro models for 2018 will be leading the way, due for Australian release in August. The range, available in EC250, EC300, XC250 and XC300 (2 stroke and 4 stroke) forms, feature new engines, frames, suspension and geometry, with quality components from the likes of KYB and FMF as part of a long list of new parts and features that the Torrot Group says will mark a total renewal of the Gas Gas brand in enduro.
New models are set to be added to the Phoenix range, too, with a kid-sized ‘E10’ electric enduro model the first addition.
“The MY2018 range is just the start of the new breed to come from Gas Gas, with much-anticipated developments to be announced,” said UMI CEO, Joseph Elasmar.
“We look forward to a long relationship with Gas Gas and we are committed to support our customers and dealership network.
“Media events, shows and customer experience days are being scheduled for the second half of 2017, as well as racing programs, such as the VORC and AORC,” Elasmar added.
