Presented by Club Laverda Queensland Inc. (CLQ), CONCOURS 2012 is a must-see on the Queensland (and beyond!) motorcycle events calendar. What started as a simple static display at Captain Burke Park in Kangaroo Point 23 years ago has grown so big it’s had to relocate to the Cleveland Showgrounds.

What started as a showcase of Italian bikes has grown to encompass, American, Japanese and British motorcycles of all ages and stages, as well as trade stalls, motorcycle club stalls, food vendors, kid’s rides and more.

Over the years, CONCOURS has attracted all manner of modern and vintage bikes, from the biggest Vincent to the smallest Vespa. This year should be no exception, with CONCOURS Event Manager, Bryan Horn expecting another impressive turnout of bikes and spectators.

“Gauging by the interest we’ve had from exhibitors, this year’s event is set to draw record crowds and showcase bikes never before entered in competition,” Bryan said.

Fifteen judging classifications and over $4,000 in cash and prizes (including a new-for-2012 $2,000 cash prize for Best in Show) from 30 sponsors will be up for grabs this year. Judging categories cost $10 per bike (+$5 venue entry) and close at 10:30AM sharp on the day. Motorcycles must be in complete and running order to be eligible.

Public entry to CONCOURS 2012 is only $5 for adults (including off-street motorcycle parking), with kids under 15 admitted free. CLQ merchandise will also be available on the day. An alcohol-free, family friendly event, CONCOURS also allows CLQ to donate to its favourite charity – the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

“We were able to donate $5000 last year to the Make-A-Wish Foundation and in 2012 we are looking to better that,” Bryan said.

NOTE: Should extreme weather prevail on the day, CONCOURS will be rescheduled to a future date.
