1957 Sedan which was imported from California in 2007. I bought it in 2009 from WA. FULLY RESTORED to original except for the wheels and a 55 pearl steering wheel. I have the original steering wheel and whitewalls for it if interested. Its a 283 V8 with powerglide transmission (rebuilt approx. 1500 miles ago)I have approx. 120 receipts for work on the car and over $20K - most in the past 2-3 years Body: new chrome bumpers front and rear new chrome rockets ⁄ light surrounds ⁄ front light bar ⁄ hood bar and eyebrows new side aluminium panels all stainless either replaced for polished paint is in good condition - not show, I would rate a 7-8 out of 10. few nicks and scratches here and there. Bad point is both rear doors have sign of rust in the lower edges. I have dismantled all doors and treated with fish oil - not got any worse since I purchased the car(was like that when I bought it)R⁄H rear door has a few scratches on it where I scraped it along the garage door. Interior: All seats redone and are 10⁄10 - perfect. Door skins are good but not show - 8/10. Carpet is excellent roof lining is good- 2 marks on it but not too bad - may clean off I have never bothered. Its the original lining Dash excellent - everything works, speedo reconditioned, gauges replaced / clock works. Original wipers replaced with a raingear system 2 speed Under hood ⁄ Engine: All engine accessories replaced or reconditioned (carb ⁄ fuel pump ⁄ tank / complete cooling system incl heater ⁄ generator) Engine rebuilt approx. 1500 miles ago at a cost of over $2500. I had this engine redone to original rather than replace with a crate motor as the engine no is a very low number (one of the first ever made 283's)and thought it would make the car more valuable to keep it rather than replace the engine. plus I wanted to keep the car original. Transmission serviced and working perfectly. Does have a minor leak - potentially from the speedo cable. Brakes: TreadleVac Power brakes all completely redone, incl master cylinder ⁄ treadle vac unit, wheel cylinders⁄ bearings⁄ shoes. Steering: original style power steering all replaced including idler ⁄ tie rod arms, power steering ram ⁄ control valve ⁄ pump ⁄ hoses suspension: All suspension redone incl front and rear springs ⁄shocks ⁄ rubbers ⁄ ball joints ⁄ bushes Others: All weather stripping replaced including front and rear windshield seals. Rust: As already stated the 2 rear doors show signs, there is no rust anywhere else in the car. For sale by owner. Im not interested in trades or swaps or silly offers. If you are genuine you can call me on 0409 728 974 to arrange an inspection.
Sadly its time to sell my much loved 57 Chevy Convertible. Car was purchased from Sarasota ⁄ Florida in 2010 and I imported it myself. Car was fully restored completed in 2006 ⁄ 2007 and won Chevy of the year in the US. Since 2010 when I purchased, I have spent over $25K making this car perfect in every way. Has won awards locally. (I have not taken the car interstate for shows). Details: 57 Convertible built in the Norwood factory in July 1957. Running all original283 power pack V8 with 4 barrel carter carburettor. Transmission is original cast iron power glide. Car is perfect in every manner. Every part of this car has either been restored or replaced with US replacement parts since its original frame off restoration, and since my purchase in 2010 – have receipts to show – body ⁄ chrome ⁄ stainless ⁄ roof ⁄ interior ⁄ mechanical - everything. I could list all the work that has been undertaken but this list would be very long – you’re best viewing the car in person and also viewing all of the receipts. This car only gets out of the garage no more than 5 -6 times a year. This is a true investment in an iconic US classic car that’s perfect in every way. Im happy to answer any queries and will be having more detailed photos of the car undertaken and uploaded soon. Not interested in any swaps or trades or silly offers. If you are genuinely interested Im happy to show you the car.
