For Sale. 1951 Chevy 2 door hardtop Bel Air Full custom. This build has been inspired by the car customisers of the late 1940’s and early 50’s, particularly George and Sam Barris and the Larry Ernst Chevy. I’ve aimed to keep this car as traditional as possible: every modification has been carefully planned to make sure that the car appears to have been built in the early 50’s. This carries over to the driving experience; it keeps it’s original 216 6 cylinder but with split exhaust manifolds and straight pipes (a modification often done back then and sounds killer). The car drives great for it’s age considering it rides on cross-ply tyres and is lowered in the rear; it keeps up with traffic fine and doesn’t have a problem doing 100kph for long periods. If you’re after a modern-day build with modern-day comforts, then this car is probably not for you. It is raw and fun to drive, you don't get that sentiment with new style builds. The car requires some finishing off: side windows and trims need to be made/cut and the headlining needs to be installed. The original lining is there but I’m not sure on the condition. Wipers need to be trimmed down - I can do this at extra cost. A little cosmetic welding needs to be done on the parcel shelf, though nothing structural. The wiring may need attention. The windscreen has a small crack which is out of the line of vision. The front glass is not custom made, just stock style cut down, very easy to do if you have access to a sand blaster. The engine uses a small amount of oil, as all these old engines do. Keep the oil up to it and it will go on for many years. The car has been updated with a disk brake/boosted front end. The paint on the car is good, but not Motor Ex quality. Has a mustang fuel tank and alloy radiator, can suply the originals if the buyer wants them. Below is a list of the body modifications: 3.5” roof chop. Frenched Headlights. Fuel filler door shaved. Aerial hole shaved. Rounded hood corners with 54 Pontiac floating grill and hand made grill opening. Nosed and Decked. Shoebox Ford style windsplitters with 54 Merc taillight lenses chopped and flipped. Extended Fender skirts. 54 Pontiac rear bumper - Quarter panels have been modified to suit the bumper shape. Moulded Valance panels front and rear. Modified 51 Chevy side trim. Shaved door handles. 53 Caddy hubcaps and $2000 worth of Goodyear super cushion tyres. Price is firm and I believe it’s more than fair. Others are asking 35k+ for stock ones and there’s tens of thousands in labor alone on the body mods. I’m happy to answer any questions but please no time wasters and no trades. May consider taking $1000 less if i can keep the tyres, can suply roadworthy white wall radials in place of the crossplys.
