Seller's Description
As an icon of 50’s style and luxury, the Lincoln Continental Mk II was an attempt to rival the greatest of the pre-War era, or anything in Europe. Unveiled at the Paris Auto Show in 1955, the Mark II was at the pinnacle of automotive luxury at the time, and contrasted the typical chrome-laden and flamboyant styling of the era with simplistic, understated lines. This resulted in a sleek, elegant design that was an influence on the design for future models across all American manufacturers. With only 2996 of these iconic cars built, they are regarded as a rare and highly desirable classic. This example has been beautifully restored by its previous owner to highly original specifications. With a number of factory options such as air conditioning, power seats and power windows, this Mark II presents in Continental “Deep Red” with a contrasting cream interior. The original wheels and hubcaps remain on the vehicle, are wrapped in white wall tyres as they would have been on the showroom floor in 1956. The 368ci Y-block V8 is paired to a “Turbo Drive” 3-speed automatic gearbox, both of which have been fully reconditioned. All major mechanical components such as brakes, carburettors and water/power steering pumps were also overhauled in this process, resulting in an example that is a pleasure to drive. Ready to be driven off the showroom floor and enjoyed, this iconic vehicle would complement any garage or collection. PLEASE NOTE: Odometer in Miles *Test Drive and Viewing by Appointment Only
