Seller's Description
1958 AUSTIN HEALEY SPRITE MKI SN3460 VIN N0:AN56178 ENG NO:V80561P $21,500 (Inc GST, Excl Govt Charges if Applicable) RALLY TUNED, AND ON THE MARKET AFTER 31 YEARS After the huge success of the Austin Healey 100, Gerry Coker was one again given the task of penning a two seater sports car, this time based on the A-Series BMC running gear. Gerry emigrated to the US before the Sprite made it into production, after which Les Ireland under the watchful eye of the BMC accounting team made some final alterations, including the addition of the iconic “Bugeye” headlights. Offered for sale after 31 years, this Old English White “Bugeye” has benefited from extensive performance upgrades. Utilising MkIII Sprite components this Bugeye now has front disc brakes, the stronger “Ribcase” gearbox and a 1275cc engine. The upgrades did not stop there however, with the 1275cc engine being rebuilt to a “Rally Tune” and bored out to 1310cc with the addition of a single 45 DCOE Weber to replace the SU and extractors to increase the engines performance. To further increase the performance, and aid in mechanical tinkering/servicing the Steel bonnet was replaced with a much lighter fibreglass example, hinging the opposite direction. Painted in the 80's this MKI Sprite presents almost as if it was restored in the 2000's with Dark Green Wire Wheels to set of the beautify trimmed Deep Emerald Interior. To Be Sold with Vic RWC TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS ENGINE: 1310cc INLINE 4 CYLINDER FUEL SYSTEM: SINGLE 45 DCOE WEBER TRANSMISSION: 4 SPEED “RIBCASE” GEARBOX SUSPENSION: INDEPENDENT FRONT/LIVE REAR BRAKES: DISC FRONT/DRUM REAR WHEELS: 13” PAINTED WIRE WHEELS
