Seller's Description
The MG A was introduced with great success in 1955, and quickly became one of the most sought after British roadsters of the day. While MG are widely known for their open-top sports cars, the A was offered in open-top and coupe models. With a stiffer, more streamlined body and the addition of a few extra options, the MG A Coupe outdoes its Roadster sibling in both performance and comfort. Only 1452 Coupes were produced in 1960, compared with the 15,000 roadsters, making this model a true collectable which is highly desirable in today’s market. This factory right-hand-drive example was built on the 22nd November 1960, and was sold new in Australia. Masterfully restored in 2003 with complete originality in mind, this vehicle presents in Chariot Red over a contrasting Beige interior, as it did when it left the factory. The paintwork, chromework and interior are immaculate, and the restoration is documented with detailed photographs and receipts. Sporting an eager 1600cc Inline-4, this car delivers a powerful, raw driving experience. The 4-speed manual gearbox shifts seamlessly, making the car a pleasure to drive. An engine rebuild was carried out at the time of restoration, and the vehicle has travelled only 10,000 miles since then. This car is ready to be driven and enjoyed. With photos of the restoration, receipts for maintenance, and a British Motor Industry Heritage Certificate, this example has a fantastic documented history. Only 66 right-hand-drive Coupes were exported in 1960, making this an extremely rare motor car that would complement any collection. *Test Drive and Viewing by Appointment Only
