Seller's Description
1974 PORSCHE 911 CARRERA 2.7 MFI TARGA Purchased by the current owner in London in 1978 and brought back to Australia shortly after, this is a matching numbers example with the original books. It has recently had the engine reconditioned by a Porsche specialist. Originally the car was dark blue with dark blue interior. On one of his trips to California (Merchant Navy) in the 1980s, the owner noticed the trend toward black cars and especially liked those with beige upolstery. On his return he commissioned a full colour change. This was not uncommon when cars weren't all that valuable - a new 911 Carrera was about $60K in 1985 so this car would have been worth perhaps $30K+ at the time. The Carrera 2.7 MFI (mechanical fuel injection) is the higher performance car of 1974 and has the same 210 bhp engine that was in the, now hugely-expensive, 1972/3 911 Carrera RS. As the price of air-cooled cars has increased dramatically over the last few years, the rarer models like this Carrera 2.7 MFI have climbed even more. Now on display in our new showroom. We can arrange door to door delivery Australia-wide.
