Seller's Description
Mercedes Benz 560SEL 1988 sedan with only 122,000km.
BEA delivered, dark metallic blue, more than $6,000+ in recent extensive mechanical updates, 99% perfect interior, was $205,000 new. However this now appreciating Classic German luxury ‘limo’ can be yours for only $8,750.
I am only selling this beauty, which I have owned for over 5 years and have only driven occasionally being a ‘second car’, as I am starting a new business and can no longer indulge my 560 project.
Just for your interest $ 205,000 - the cost of the vehicle in 1988/89 - was enough then to pay cash for 2 very nice Houses here in Adelaide.
This Classic has an Agreed Value for insurance of $ 19,800.
The original 1988 MB Sales Brochures for this model can be included – the car was delivered by BEA Adelaide on 10 January 1989.
The sun visors have mirrors with lights in them and even the Clock still works perfectly – and needless to say the original dash is not cracked.
Has Cruise Control & Climate Control Air Conditioning of course.
Has an electric sliding metal Sunroof so you can enjoy those balmy evenings.
290 BHP, horse power, 5.5 litre V8 engine – does not burn any oil nor use any water – has huge torque and cruises the highway effortlessly and was, in its day the fastest saloon car on the planet but driven sedately, as I do, it returns great ‘miles per gallon’.
Electric leather Reclining rear & front seats which as you will see in the photos are 99% as perfect as the day this limo left its German factory. The head rests for the front seats raise electrically to your desired positions so as to best protect your neck in the unlikely event of a rear collision. Needless to say the front seats are fully electrically positioned.
New $1,000 Pioneer 4 speaker CD radio stereo.
Almost new $ 350 heavy duty Battery.
Yokohama tyres.
Immobiliser.
This car is not perfect but it is as close to being perfect as one could expect of an unmolested car that is now 29 years old (next year when it turns 30 the insurance premiums – which are already low – decrease again.) However it does require a couple of minor things to finish it off as well as a re-spray of the bonnet, roof and boot which have unfortunately suffered during its captivity here in dry old Adelaide.
Some of the Preventative Maintenance done to this Classic are;
Two new Fuel Pumps.
New Distributor & Rotor – these Distributors are huge and are as big as a small dinner plate.
All new ignition leads and spark plugs.
Oil & Filter changed.
New Air Filter.
Transmission Seal replaced as well as new front & rear Transmission Mounts (rubber mounts do eventually perish) and a full Transmission service including linkage bushes replaced and the diff oil filled.
Two new Bilstein front shock absorbers fitted with two new Bilstein rear shockers, not yet fitted, to go with the car.
Entire Control Arm Ball Joint Bushings & Tie Rod Assembly replaced.
Self levelling system’s hydraulic pump resealed.
Wheel alignment done.
Registered in SA until April 2018.
I am looking for a MB enthusiast who will complete the final restoration steps of this car which, if well treated, could last another century.
