The Biannual Lake Goldsmith Steam Rally celebrated its 99th event over the weekend of May 5 – 6.

The theme was ‘Road Transport’, but tractors, machinery and steam traction engines were well represented, with a 1923 Foden steam truck from the Royal Australian Navy Steam Club one of the highlights. While this event was big, it’s just a warm-up for the 100th Steam Rally, which will be held on November 3, 4 and 5.

Organisers expect to have their recently acquired 1903 Bucyrus rail-mounted steam shovel in operation, and are hoping to attract 100 operating steam traction engines to the 100th rally. For further details, go to www.lakegoldsmithsteamrally.org.au
