This year the Citroën Car Club of Queensland is proud to present 'La Grande Exposition de l'Automobile Francaise'. This will be the 32nd running of this annual event (traditionally known as ‘A Grand Display of French Cars’), celebrating the magical automobiles of France. On display will be an array of old and new Citroens, Peugeots, Renaults, Simcas and as many of the other French exotics as can be coaxed out into the Brisbane sunshine at Murarrie Recreation Reserve, on Wynnum Rd, Cannon Hill. 2015 was certainly an event to remember, including a 60th birthday celebration of the Citroën DS with an amazing more than 60 examples on display. Entry is free for the viewing public from 9a.m. French car lovers are also encouraged to display their cars from 8 a.m. for $10, adding to the celebration and putting them in the running for a range of fantastic prizes and awards. You don’t need to be a car club member to display and the clubs would love you to show off your vehicule no matter what condition it is in ! They are all beautiful in their own way and the more the merrier! In addition to those awards seen in past years, this year’s event will also mark the inaugural "Shannon’s Concours d'Elegance" for the shinier examples, with the winner receiving the Shannon’s La Grande Exposition de l'Automobile Francaise Perpetual Trophy. Prizes will also be awarded for second and third place winners and entry is entirely optional for an additional $10 at the gate. Also alongside the classics will be new cars for sale by a number of the local dealers, as well as a record number of food and drink vendors. The organisers have also been working closely with the Brisbane French Festival (8th, 9th and 10th of July at Southbank) who will have a strong presence at the Grande Exposition with the organisers reciprocating at the French Festival the following weekend. So there will be two consecutive weekends to immerse yourself both in French cars and culture....! So come and show-off your pride and joy in any state of beautiful, or just take advantage of the free entry to enjoy the show. It's sure to be the best Grand Display yet!
